Observations for consideration:

Referral of pain, tingling, or other symptoms is not required with palpation (contact / pressure) of suspected muscles/locations.  Sustained compression will often influence / reduce related effects (pain, tension, weakness) for a short period of time; this interaction is more consistent with providing input to confirm or deny whether a muscle is contributing to your concerns.

Multiple muscles can have multiple locations to treat - often close to both ends of muscle to tendon transition if the provoking location is not in the middle portion of the muscle.  Interaction at only one location can have temporary or partial effect and may result in confusion, lack of overall progress until the second location is addressed.

A few locations have been identified that require specific joint positions in order to be palpated.
